Ford recall: Close to 200,000 new-model Mustangs recalled for brake fluid safety issue

Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 200,000 new-model Mustangs due to a reported potential brake fluid safety issue.
The brake fluid level sensor in certain models may not activate the visual warning indicator when the brake fluid is low, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said.
The affected models fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard "Light Vehicle Brake Systems, the NHTSA announced online on Oct. 27.

What Ford Mustang models are being recalled?
The recall affects 2020-2023 models, according to the NHTSA.
In total 187,922 of the vehicles are affected by the safety risk.

Dealers to offer software update
Ford said dealers will perform a software update on customer's affected models at no cost.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 4, 2023. A second letter will be mailed once the remedy is available.
